2 | pounds | thin fresh asparagus spears | |

2 | containers | (6.5 ounce) garlic and herb spreadable cheese | |

2 | Tablespoons | chopped fresh basil | |
|
|||
1/4 | teaspoon | freshly ground pepper | |
|
|||
Crackers or thinly sliced bread | |||

Snap off tough ends of asparagus. Cook in boiling water 3 minutes or until crisp tender. Place asparagus in ice water to stop the cooking process; drain.
Cut asparagus tips into 24 1/2- inch pieces. Then slice each piece in half lengthwise. Dice remaining asparagus.
Combine diced asparagus, garlic and herb cheese, basil and pepper. Garnish with asparagus tips.
Serve with crackers or thin sliced bread.
